Internet Order Centers

Bank of America is providing an Internet merchandising service that both encourages the use of credit cards and helps small businesses. For some time the bank has had a facility in Charlotte, NC that was processing credit card payments for merchants. It has now established an Internet Order Center that offers small businesses their own Web sites for making Internet sales from their own online store. The program is available to merchants that have accounts at the Bank of America. According to the article in Ticker, 70 stores have signed up. Retailers that already have a Web site pay a flat $250 fee to set up the site and then $100 a month to maintain the site. Those creating a new storefront pay corresponding fees of $495 and $175.
