Auto Lease Maturities Lengthen

According to LTR/8+ published by CNW Marketing Research, maturities on automobile leases rose in 1999 to an average of 42.3 months, up from 41.6 months in 1998 and a low of 40.2 months in 1995. From 1997 to 1999, the average downpayment on leases rose from $1,988 to $2,272, just over two-thirds of the level of average downpayment on the credit purchases of new vehicles.
