Outstanding Debt CollectorsAre you looking for debt collectors who are "efficient, polite and, above all, they love their jobs"? Moreover, "they are the most eager learners you'll ever find." Working as a customer service representative is a prized job. In working at their job, they have "an overwhelming desire to learn how to do things right." Nearly all of them have a college degree and some have masters degrees. These comments are from an article by Keely Helgason in the October issue of Collector and are, in turn, based on an interview with Raman Rou, founder of Spectramind. That firm is a third-party employer for individuals seeking to be debt collectors in call centers that phone consumers who are delinquent in paying their debts. What makes this especially interesting is that the call centers are located in India. They are trained to speak "American" English, in part by watching tapes of popular American sitcoms. They adopt American names and keep up with American baseball and football. They even check current weather reports from in the U.S., in case that should come up during the call. They are trained not to reveal where they are located and, if asked, respond that for security reasons they are unable to reveal that information.
