Click or Lick?

In an article under the above title, American Demographics reports the findings of a study by the New York-based research firm, Ipsos-Reid. The research explored the extent to which consumers adopt modern technology offered to consumers by the banks, or whether they prefer to conduct their business in person, by mail or on the telephone. The findings are relevant to banks considering the advisability of investing further in technology. Interestingly, consumers' apparent lack of enthusiasm for modern technology does not appear to reflect their concerns about privacy or security. Instead, respondents to the survey said that they had always made their deposits in person or by mail. Only 17 percent said that they avoided technology because they were concerned about their privacy. Instead, they just liked the way they had been doing their banking in the past.
