Internet Gambling

The Nevada legislature has approved a bill that authorizes the state Gaming Control Board to examine Internet gambling in order to determine how it might be regulated. According to CardLine, Internet gambling has reached about $1.6 billion worldwide. Although no reliable data are available, it seems likely that most of the "action" was based on credit cards. U.S. Representative James Leach (R-IA) is proposing a bill that would make it illegal for the gambling business to "accept credit cards, checks or fund transfers for illegal Internet gambling." The bill is aimed at the gambling industry, not the credit card companies.
