Christmas Plastic Charges Top $126 Billion

During the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas American consumers charged $126 billion according to data compiled by CardWeb and RAM Research Group. These purchases represented a 17.8 percent increase from the 1998 level. The estimated distribution of credit-card sales is shown in the accompanying table.
